Tsubaki Japanese Cuisine

For months, friends of ours kept telling us about Tsubaki’s. They go often for the sushi. Not a fish eater, I always declined. Not wanting to disappoint our friends for a third time, I decided to look up the menu online and was deeply surprised that Tsubaki wasn’t just a sushi place but that they offered other great food choic- es as well. Since then both my husband and I have become big fans of the restaurant.

Tsubaki is open for both lunch and dinner. They offer both booths and tables. If you’re in a hurry, you can order a bento box to go. For fish lovers, my husband swears by the sushi and sashimi roll combo special. My favorite is the Yaki- Tori. (Skewered chicken and vegetables grilled in teriyaki sauce.) All lunches include Miso soup or a ginger salad. You can check out their lunch and dinner menus on their website. Online ordering is also available.

My other half does love going there mainly for the sushi rolls. Dinner entrees are both reasonable and yummy. Sushi lovers will be delighted at the variety and choices you get to pick from. Order up a few sushi rolls and share with your friends. A favorite is the Maki combination- California roll, spicy tuna, and eel roll. They also offer signature rolls and special rolls. With the many sushi com- binations to pick from, you won’t be disappointed. I always opt for the vegetarian roll or hand roll. The avocado roll and the shrimp and crabmeat summer roll are my favorite appetizers. You can ask for duck sauce on the side or soy sauce to dip.

For dinner entrees, for those not into the sushi, they offer up a hibachi plate or a teriyaki plate with either rice or noodles. The hibachi dishes are what keep me coming back for more. The rice is seasoned to perfection alongside a fair sized portion of grilled al dente vegetables. Your preference, you can order vegetarian, chicken, shrimp, steak, scallops, salmon, filet mignon, meat combos and seafood combos for the dish. Entrees come with Miso soup and a ginger salad.

Make sure you order some appetizers as you wait for your dinner. There are many to choose from. The summer rolls wrapped in clear rice paper and the pan fired pork dumplings are my favorite. The steamed shrimp dumplings, crab Ran- goon, vegetable tempura and soft shell crab tempura come in at a close second! There are also more appetizers to choose from!

Have I made you hungry yet? The food is superb, the prices are reasonable, and the best part of it is you don’t have to travel far to get there. It’s BYOB, so bring your favorite bottle of wine with you. Keep in mind, they also do catering.

The restaurant has many incentives. Ask about their loyal customer incentive where you get loyalty points. They also have a coupon for Senior Citizens on their website for dining on Wednesdays. Check out their ad in the Millstone Times along with five and ten dollar coupons off the price of dinner. You can also collect 10 stamps to receive

20 dollars off the next visit.
